A festive and official occasion timed to the 22nd anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan on December 5 at the Uzbekistan Palace of International Forums gathered state and public figures, representatives of sciences, culture and arts, the public of the capital Tashkent, embassies of foreign nations and offices of international organizations accredited in our country.
Following the sounds of the state anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov delivered a keynote speech in the festive meeting.
The head of our state stressed in particular that the major provisions, principles and goals of the Basic Law constitute the foundation for an effective and refined legislative and legal base in the country, of the well-thought-out longer-term program for reforms, democratization and liberalization of the society renowned around the world as the Uzbek Model of Development, and of the cardinal transformation and modernization of the country.
Organized at the initiative of our country’s President Islam Karimov, the international conference “On Vital Reserves in the Realization of Food Program in Uzbekistan” took place June 6 at the Palace of Symposia in Tashkent.
The forum was attended by officials of eminent international organizations and financial institutions, including the World Health Organization, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, as well as chiefs of diplomatic missions, leading experts and business people from more than 40 countries of the world, including United States of America, China, South Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Austria and others.

On September 14, Tashkent’s Palace of Symposiums hosted an international conference organized at the initiative of President Islam Karimov. The forum has addressed the role and importance of small business and private entrepreneurship in the implementation of socio-economic policy in Uzbekistan.
The event was attended by representatives of a number of prominent international organizations and financial institutions, including the United Nations, the World Bank, the International Finance Corporation, the Asian Development Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, the leading experts and business people from more than forty-five nations such as the United States of America, China, South Korea, Japan, Great Britain, France, Germany, Canada, along with representatives of diplomatic corps accredited in Uzbekistan.
The conference has been designed to evaluate the advanced practices in the development of small business and private entrepreneurship as a vital link in building a sustainable economy and spearheading social transformation. Also, the event has had the objective of familiarizing the international community with Uzbekistan’s achievements in the field.

“National Model of Mother and Child Healthcare in Uzbekistan: Healthy Mother – Healthy Child” international symposium took place on November 26 in Symposiums Palace of Tashkent’s Ma’rifat Markazi (Enlightenment Center) complex.
Organized by the initiative of Uzbekistan’s President Islam Karimov, the event has been arranged by the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with World Health Organization (WHO), UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and UN Population Fund (UNFPA). Some 300 world-renowned academics and representatives of international healthcare organizations, including the leaderships of WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA, health ministries of around forty nations, including the United States, China, Russia, Canada, UK, Germany, Italy, Spain, France, Finland, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Denmark, South Korea and others, attended the symposium.
Principal topic of discussion has been the outcomes of cardinal reforms undertaken in Uzbekistan during independence years in public healthcare, including maternity and childhood care, nurturing a healthy generation, shaping a relevant unified national model in this realm.

The Uzbek-US business forum was held in Tashkent on 18 February in the framework of the visit to Uzbekistan of Robert Blake, US Assistant State Secretary, Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs.
Opening the forum, Galina Saidova, Minister of Foreign Economic Relations, Investments and Trade, said cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United States was developing in all areas, including trade and economy.
