At the Oqsaroy on August 6, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received Toshimitsu Motegi, Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Welcoming the guest, the head of our state noted that the meeting constituted a logical extension of the dynamically advancing dialogue with Japan with regard to consolidation of relations of strategic partnership between our two nations, and that it provided a good opportunity to assess the current state and exchange views on the priority aspects in the enhancement of mutually advantageous cooperation, first and foremost in the economic realm.
At the Oqsaroy on July 10, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Ahmet Davutoglu, who has been in our country on an official visit.
Greeting the guest, the leader of our country stressed that the meeting provided with a good opportunity to assess the current state of Uzbek-Turkish relations and exchange views on priority directions in the further consolidation of bilateral cooperation.
As it was underscored during the talks, Uzbekistan and Turkey have historically been tied by a cultural, linguistic and spiritual community as much as a joint experience of equal and mutually advantageous interaction in the trade-economic and other areas.

As it was reported earlier, President of the Republic of Korea Park Geun-hye arrived in Uzbekistan on June 16 with her first state visit on the invitation of President Islam Karimov.
Major events of the current visit took place on June 17 at the Kuksaroy residence. During the official ceremony of meeting the President of the Republic of Korea, the guard of honor lined up in esteem for the high-ranking guest. Presidents Islam Karimov and Park Geun-hye rose to the podium and paid tribute to the state anthems of the two nations. The two leaders walked along the guard of honor.
The heads of state met first in a contracted format and exchanged views on issues pertaining to the bilateral cooperation and pressing topics in regional and international affairs.

The President noted that FAO is regarded in our nation as the world community’s key institution that deals with international policies and actions in the field of food security and agricultural development.
Since 2001, when Uzbekistan joined FAO, eight national and regional projects have been implemented in our country. Another five schemes of nationwide and regional significance are currently in the phase of realization.

The ceremony was followed by talks in a contracted format, where the two leaders went into details to discuss the current state and prospects in the evolution of bilateral cooperation. They also exchanged views on pressing issues in regional and international affairs.
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the Oqsaroy on May 7 met with William Burns, the United States Deputy Secretary of State, who has been in our country on a working visit.
