Meeting at the Oqsaroy
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met at the Oqsaroy October 11 with the Acting Chairman of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Ukraine Leonid Kozhara who is in our country on official visit.

Greeting the guest, the head of our state noted that the Minister’s arrival in Uzbekistan allows, first and foremost, to directly discuss the pressing issues in bilateral relations as well as international and regional topics, and to exchange views on the agenda of the Ukrainian chairmanship in the OSCE.

Visit Proves Fruitful
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping traveled to Samarkand on September 10.

The high-ranking guest started his tour of the historical monuments of the ancient city from the Mirzo Ulughbek Observatory. The facility is indicative of the great genius of our ancestors, the deep roots and ages-old traditions in the evolution of our science. Xi Jinping got familiarized with the life and academic heritage of Mirzo Ulughbek.

The heads of two states visited the Amir Temur Mausoleum and the Registan Complex.

Uzbekistan, China Aim for New Horizons of Strategic Partnership
As it was reported earlier, at the invitation of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping arrived in our country on September 8 with state visit.

Major events of the visit were scheduled for September 9. The official ceremony of welcoming the PRC President took place at the Kuksaroy residence. The guard of honor lined up in mark of respect to the high-ranking guest. Islam Karimov and Xi Jinping rose to the podium to pay tribute to state anthems of Uzbekistan and China. Then the heads of our two states walked past the guard of honor.

During the meeting in a contracted format, Islam Karimov and Xi Jinping exchanged views across a wide range of issues in regard to boosting the cooperation between Uzbekistan and China, along with regional and international affairs of shared interest.

Chinese President Arrives in Uzbekistan
At the invitation of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping arrived in Tashkent on September 8 with state visit.

At the capital’s airport decorated with state flags of our two nations, the high-ranking guest has been met by the leader of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

Meeting at the Oqsaroy
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the Oqsaroy on August 31 met with Eni Faleomavaega and James Patrick Moran, members of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress, who have been on visit in our country.

Greeting the guests, the head of our state expressed confidence that their stay in Uzbekistan during the Independence Day celebrations will allow them to have a better familiarity with our country, its rich culture, spiritual and historical heritage and traditions of the Uzbek people.

Participation of prominent American officials in the international conference entitled “Evolution of Parliamentarianism: Expertise of Uzbekistan and the United States” has become another indication of the expanding cooperation between our two nations.

President Meets with UNESCO Director General
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the Oqsaroy on August 25 met with Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Irina Bokova, who arrived in our country to take part in the 9th Sharq Taronalari International Music Festival.

Greeting the guest, the head of our state expressed conviction that her first visit to Uzbekistan as the UNESCO Director General will facilitate a closer familiarization with the country and our nation’s rich historical-cultural heritage.

The two sides have been successfully interacting in issues related to the revival and profound study of the spiritual legacy of Uzbekistan; they have been jointly running a diversity of programs in culture, education, science and other areas.

Meeting at the Oqsaroy
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the Oqsaroy on August 14 met with Raymond Conner, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Executive Vice President of the Boeing Corporation.

Greeting the guest, the head of our state noted that Boeing is Uzbekistan’s reliable and long-term partner in terms of supply, operation and service of modern passenger aircraft.

Meeting at the Oqsaroy
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met at the Oqsaroy July 25 with Lloyd Austin, Commander of the Central Command of the United States.

Issues of bilateral nature, including the interaction aimed at providing for security and stability in the region, have been discussed during the meeting.

Islam Karimov Meets with China’s Foreign Minister
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Wang Yi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, at the Oqsaroy on July 16.

Greeting the guest cordially, the head of our state stressed that for Uzbekistan, China has been and will keep being a friendly country, cooperation with which is built on principles of mutual respect and confidence.

As it was noted during the talks, the relations between our two nations have been advancing steadily in the political, trade and economic, investment, transport and communications, cultural and humanitarian and other areas, as well as within the frameworks of prominent international and regional institutions like the United Nations and Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Meeting at the Oqsaroy
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Yoo Jeong-bok, Minister of Security and Public Administration of the Republic of Korea, at the Oqsaroy on July 2.

In the wake of the meeting, the head of our state noted that the current visit constitutes a bright manifestation of the South Korean leadership’s commitment to the comprehensive development of mutually advantageous cooperation with Uzbekistan.

One of the leading investors into our economy, South Korea is currently regarded as Uzbekistan’s most important trade partner in Asia Pacific. In 2012, the volume of bilateral trade grew by 31 percent to reach 2.1 billion US dollars. The amount of investments made by South Korea into the Uzbek economy has exceeded six billion dollars.
