Meeting at the Oqsaroy
President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with member of State Council and Central Military Council of the People’s Republic of China, Defense Minister Liang Guanglie at the Oqsaroy March 18.

Welcoming the guest, the head of our country noted that the Uzbek-Chinese relations have been steadily dynamic in recent years in all spheres of bilateral interaction and took on a new impetus following the state visit by China’s President Hu Jintao to Uzbekistan in June 2010.

“We consider the PRC a reliable partner,” President Karimov pointed out. “China is a second largest economy in the world today. We regard your visit to Uzbekistan as a clear indication of the consolidating interaction and cooperation between defense ministries of our countries.”


Meeting at the Oqsaroy
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan met with official delegation of the American-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce headed by its Chairwoman Carolyn Lamm.

Carolyn Lamm announced during the meeting that the American-Uzbek Chamber of Commerce assigns an honorable award to President Islam Karimov for securing a steadfast transition of Uzbekistan’s economy to an effectively run market economy. She stressed that the decision – taken by the Chamber whose membership includes such principals of global industry as Boeing, Honeywell, General Electric, Exxon Mobil, General Motors, Sikorsky Aircraft, Zeppelin International, Nobel, and other flagman companies – is indicative of an international recognition for the concept of gradual transition to market economy, elaborated by President Islam Karimov and acknowledged across the world as the Uzbek model of development.

Also attending the meeting, leaders of Boeing and Honeywell noted that the Uzbek model of economic reforms, built on the five principles of transition worked out by President Karimov, has provided for a shock-free macroeconomic stability, profound structural transformation, an environment facilitating a smooth shift to market relations in the country.

President Meets US Secretary of State
Islam Karimov, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, met with Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State of the United States of America, at the Oqsaroy on December 2.

Today, Uzbekistan and the United States have hoarded a significant practice for constructive dialogue on a wide range of issues. This has helped bring about a qualitatively new phase in bilateral cooperation in political, trade and economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian as well as other spheres.

Greeting the guest, Uzbekistan’s President gave his high appreciation of the growth dynamics in Uzbek-American relations in many areas, corresponding to the spirit of partnership and mutual understanding.

“We very much welcome the relations we are building today with the United States,” Islam Karimov said. “With great pleasure can one note the dynamics and content of the bilateral cooperation. I hope we will now have a good opportunity to exchange views on our current relations, regional issues and those topics that have drawn our mutual interest.”

President Meets with EU Officials
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with European Union officials headed by Andris Piebalgs, Commissioner for Development, at Oqsaroy on November 15.

Welcoming the guests, the head of state expressed appreciation of the current state and level of development of relations between Uzbekistan and the EU.

“Today we can witness a growth dynamic in our interactions with the European Union. Contemporary realities have required that we have the benefit of a constructive and mutually advantageous bilateral cooperation,” President Karimov said.

In his turn, the EU Commissioner for Development expressed sincere gratitude to the Uzbek President for a warm welcome, and signified Europe’s interest in expanding the political and trade-economic partnership with our nation.


President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Prime Minister of the Republic of Estonia Andrus Ansip, at Oqsaroy on November 2.

Welcoming the guest, the head of state expressed delight with the current state and level of development of Uzbek-Estonian relations.

“We consider Estonia a rapidly developing nation in terms of its developed infrastructure, as well as transit and transport opportunities the country disposes today,” President Karimov suggested.

“We have every reason to use available opportunities in order to build bilateral relations that would serve mutually beneficial goals.”


President Meets Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy and Industry of Qatar, at Oqsaroy October 26.

Welcoming the guest, the head of our state noted the significant potential of Uzbekistan and Qatar to boost the bilateral cooperation.

“First of all, I would like to express my pleasure to meet Your Excellency as a distinguished guest on our Uzbek land, my deep respect to His Majesty the Emir of Qatar and my sincere gratitude for the invitation to visit the State of Qatar”, Islam Karimov said at the onset of the meeting.

“Rational use of natural wealth and resources has indisputably been the core task for heads of state and government. Qatar has set a credible pattern in the feasibility of an efficient and reasonable use of natural resources, economic modernization, innovation technologies that attracts a worthwhile interest”.

President Meets World Tourism Chief
Islam Karimov, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, at Oqsaroy October 7 met with Taleb D. Rifai, Secretary General of World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).

Welcoming the guest, the head of our state pointed out Uzbekistan’s increasingly expanding horizons of interaction with the reputable international organization.

”Mr. Secretary General, I am sincerely glad to welcome you in the land of Uzbekistan. We highly appreciate the cooperation, our common desire to develop relations in exploring and jointly realizing the tourist and historical-cultural prospective of our country,” Islam Karimov said.


Official visit of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev arrived in Tashkent on an official visit on 27 September on the invitation of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.

The strong bonds of friendship and brotherhood of peoples of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, the proximity of cultures, languages, religions and traditions provide a good basis for a broad and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries. The relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan after their independence rose to a new, qualitatively higher level. The relations based on the principles of trust, mutual understanding and respect are valued in Tashkent and Baku. The heads of the two states hold meetings on a regular basis.

The ceremony of the official meeting of the President of Azerbaijan was held in Kuksaroy residence on 27 September. The guard of honor was lined up to welcome the honorary guest. Islam Karimov and Ilham Aliyev rose to the podium. The national anthems of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan were glorified, after which the heads of the states reviewed the guard of honor.

President Meets Petronas Chief
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Dato’ Shamsul Azhar Abbas, President of the Malaysian Petronas, on September 16 in Oqsaroy.

Welcoming the guest, the head of our state stressed the sustained and steadfast development of our country’s relations with Petronas.

”We are earnestly glad to welcome you in Tashkent, and in your person I would like to express my sincere respect to the leadership of Malaysia and all the Malaysian people with whom we have enjoyed friendly relations. One of the greatest achievements of Malaysia, in our opinion, is a balanced and well-thought-out nature of policies implemented in many spheres of nation’s life which, in turn, deserves close study,” Islam Karimov said.


President meets with Japan’s Foreign Minister
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Katsuya Okada, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, at Oqsaroy August 8.

Welcoming the guest, the head of our nation expressed satisfaction with the current state and the level of Uzbek-Japanese relations in various spheres.

“The extent and nature of our present-day interaction has been advancing in the spirit of the 2002 Joint Statement on Friendship, Strategic Partnership and Cooperation, and conforms to the role played today by Japan in the economic and political development of the contemporary world”, Islam Karimov stressed.
