Germany is one of the key political, economic and trade partners of our country in Western Europe. Uzbekistan and the Federal Republic cooperate closely in bolstering regional security and stability in Central Asia. Advancing relations between the two nations has also facilitated enhancing the mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union.
At the invitation of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, President of the People’s Republic of China Hu Jintao arrived June 9 in our country on state visit.
Official welcoming ceremony of Chinese President has been hosted at Kuksaroy June 9. The guard of honor lined up for the distinguished guest. Then Islam Karimov and Hu Jintao rose to the podium, followed by state anthems of Uzbekistan and China being played flamboyantly. The two leaders reviewed the guard of honor.
During the presidents’ one-to-one meeting, the sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues related to advancing the Uzbek-Chinese relations, as well as regional and international topics of common interest.
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Vladimir Rushaylo, Special Representative of the Russian President for Building Relations with Kyrgyz Republic, at Oqsaroy on June 7.
Current developments in the region, cooperation within the SCO and other international institutions in providing for regional security and stability, and other topics of mutual interest have been discussed during the occasion.
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with participants of the meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states, at Oqsaroy on May 22.
“The current meeting of CFM has been the last in its series [during Uzbekistan’s presidency in the Organization] and thus it sums up all the preparatory work, and identifies the documents to be included in the agenda of the forthcoming Summit. Signing of these documents will make a worthwhile input into SCO’s development and boosting its prestige”, President Islam Karimov said.
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Yang Jiechi, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China (PRC), at Oqsaroy, May 21.
Greeting the guest, the head of our state said in particular, “We highly appreciate the attention and significance placed by the People’s Republic of China at the activity of SCO [Shanghai Cooperation Organization]. The international standing and such an extensive participation of Your country in the forthcoming occasion in Tashkent will help consolidate to a remarkable extent the role and influence of the Organization in the contemporary system of world politics”.
In his turn, the guest said, “We in China regard You with high respect as a great politician of modern times. People of Uzbekistan have made tremendous strides in building an independent nation precisely under Your leadership. Together with President Hu Jintao, You have raised the Uzbek-Chinese relations to a qualitatively new level”.
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, on May 14 at Oqsaroy.
Welcoming the guest, the head of state expressed his contentment that Uzbek-Omani relations have been progressing not merely in diplomatic, but also economic realms. “The major reason for this being the long-time congruent development of our peoples in historical, religious, and cultural sense”, stressed the head of nation.
Relations between Uzbekistan and Oman have been developing in the spirit of growing friendship and interaction. In October 2009, during President Islam Karimov's state visit to the Sultanate of Oman important agreements were signed concerning bilateral trade and investment cooperation, air communications, over a dozen documents on joint work in hydrocarbon, chemical and construction industries, education system, tourism, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

It was a conversation pretty rich in content and important for us. We even decided to definitely meet in Tashkent in the course of Your participation in the ADB international forum. Today You are our welcome visitor and dear guest. And the fact that we have established quite confidential relations with President Lee Myung-bak furthermore underscores the closeness and trust-based cooperation that has been forming for many years between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea”.
