The state and prospects of the multifaceted Uzbek-Russian interaction, topical issues of international politics were discussed at the meeting.

Uzbekistan’s President receives Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received Minister of foreign affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi, who is on an official visit to our country, at the Oqsaroy on 23 May.

The head of our state, warmly greeting the guest, underlined that sustainable and trustworthy relations, developed between our countries practically in all areas of cooperation, are highly appraised in Uzbekistan.

Meeting at the Oqsaroy

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Hwang Kyo-ahn at the Oqsaroy on 20 May.

The head of our state noted that this visit is a logical extension of the rigorous and prolific dialogue at the highest level and will aid further expansion of bilateral trade, economic, investment, technological, financial, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

Islam Karimov receives Bulgarian PM Boyko Borissov

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Boyko Borissov at the Oqsaroy on 18 May.

Warmly greeting the guest, the head of our state underlined that the first visit of the head of the government of Bulgaria to the Republic of Uzbekistan is a significant event in the development of bilateral relations and a good opportunity to elevate mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries to a new level.

Bulgaria is considered in Uzbekistan as a traditional and trusted economic partner and the Uzbek and Bulgarian peoples have had amicable relations for ages.

President Islam Karimov receives Germany’s foreign minister

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Federal Foreign Minister of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Chairperson-in-Office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe at the Oqsaroy on 30 March.

Warmly greeting the guest, the head of our state underlined that this meeting affords a good opportunity to share views on the issues of bilateral cooperation and is a constituent part of the multifaceted and regular Uzbek-German dialogue.

Toward Consolidation of Mutually Advantageous Cooperation

As it was reported earlier, at the invitation of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif arrived in our country on an official visit on November 17.

The official ceremony of meeting the Prime Minister of Pakistan was organized at the Kuksaroy country residence. The guard of honor lined up in honor of the distinguished guest. Islam Karimov and Nawaz Sharif rose to the podium to pay tribute to the national anthems of our two countries.

During the meeting the two sides discussed issues pertinent to the current state and prospects of cooperation between our two nations, along with the consolidation of regional security.

President Islam Karimov Discusses Cooperation Prospects with Lukoil Chief

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received the Lukoil President Vagit Alekperov at the Oqsaroy on November 10.

After greeting the guest, the leader of our country stated the enthusiastic activities of the oil company in the implementation of joint projects in Uzbekistan’s hydrocarbon industry.

Currently, Lukoil has been running investment projects designed to work out and develop promising gas deposits of Khauzak, Shady, Kungrad and the Kandym Group, along with the elaboration of oil and gas segments of the South-West Gissar and Ustyurt Region. Within the frameworks of joint geological prospecting works, promising deposits of hydrocarbons have been discovered in the Uzbek section of the Aral Sea. The aggregate volume of the company’s investments into the realization of projects in Uzbekistan has exceeded 5 billion dollars.

Islam Karimov Receives Vice Presidents of World Bank and International Finance Corporation

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov at the Oqsaroy November 6 met with World Bank Vice President Cyril Muller and International Finance Corporation (member of World Bank Group) Vice President Dimitris Tsitsiragos. The two officials were visiting our country to attend the International Investment Forum that took place in Tashkent.

Greeting the guests, the head of our state said that Uzbekistan highly values its cooperation with the World Bank Group.

Our nation has enjoyed constructive bilateral interaction with the World Bank. The collaboration has helped implement 28 joint projects worth more than 6 billion dollars with the Bank funding 2.6 billion dollars. These schemes have covered the energy sector, irrigation and public utilities networks, water supply, industrial and transport and social infrastructures.

President Islam Karimov Meets with Korea’s Trade and Industry First Vice Minister

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov received Lee Kwan-Sup, First Vice Minister of Industry, Trade and Energy of the Republic of Korea, at the Oqsaroy on November 5.

The head of our state pointed out that South Korea is one of Uzbekistan’s key investment and technology partners. A number of strategic projects across diverse sectors of our country’s economy are in progress with enthusiastic participation of Korean businesses. A classic case of this type of cooperation is the recently completed construction of the Ustyurt Gas Chemical Complex at the Surgil Deposit worth around 4 billion dollars.

Uzbekistan’s President Receives the U.S. Secretary of State

On November 1 at the Forumlar Majmuasi complex in the city of Samarkand, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov met with John Kerry, Secretary of State of the United States of America.

Extending his cordial greeting to the guest, the head of our state noted that John Kerry’s first visit to Uzbekistan affords a good opportunity to exchange views across a broad range of issues in the bilateral cooperation along with topics in international affairs.

The two nations have currently seen sustainable growth in trade and consolidation of economic ties. One of the success stories in the interaction on this front has been the fruitful activity of America’s General Motors in Uzbekistan. The strategic partnership envisages joint realization of three major hi-tech projects now underway in Andijan and Khorezm regions and the city of Tashkent.
